Remind Thyself
Remind thyself
that what thou lovest is mortal,
that what thou lovest is not thine own,
but is given to thee for the present,
not irrevocably nor forever,
but even as a fig, or a bunch of grapes,
in its appointed season of the year.
Text by Epictetus, an ancient Greek philosopher
Calligraphy and design by Cari Ferraro, 1995
